The 2016 AFL season kicked off last night with Richmond taking on traditional rivals Carlton at the MCG. Three of Blue Rock Sports finest talents were on display, two for the first time in new stripes too. It was a memorable night for debutant and much hyped Daniel Rioli as he claimed his first win in his first game for the Tigers but it was the performance of the Tigers 2014 mature age recruit Kane Lambert that was most impressive finishing with 28 disposals and 7 tackles in just his 14th AFL game to will his Tigers over the line.
Andrew Phillips also made an encouraging debut for the Blues booting one goal in the process and doing his chances of selection no harm by helping the Blues win the ruck hit-outs 41-33
Overall it was a great night of football for the Blue Rock Sports boys and we wish them all the very best for the 2016 AFL season.
